Walking Tour of Margate.
Think retro!
A brand new £17million art gallery is completed in a bid
to restore "Merry Margate's" fortunes and with over 100,000
visitors in the first few weeks of opening, it is proving to be
a success.
A further ambitious plan to develop the famous Dreamland into a
heritage park will help to complete Margate's drive to appeal to
the retro loving amongst us, but hopefully (?) without the knotted
handkerchief headware of old.
A stone's throw from the Turner Contemporary is the "creative
quarter" based in the 'Old Town', which is an appealing network
of quaint streets where lively, buzzing cafes - some with quirky,
truly unique appeal - numerous art galleries, smart boutique B&Bs
- and even a Michelin-rated restaurant and traditional ale houses.
You can shop for 1960's design classics, or peruse the art galleries
for something you'll love to take home.
Margate is only an hour-and-a-half trip on the new High Speed train
from St Pancras International, London, so why not visit for the
day and take in one of our guided walks?
